Reliable. Resilient. Relentless.
Mission
The Law Office of Zak Fisher exists to defend people facing the system. Tenants threatened with eviction. People charged with crimes. Two distinct practices, one premise: every case gets the same trial-ready preparation, whether or not it goes to trial. It is an honor to do this work for the people of Los Angeles County.
Why this work
The eviction defense practice has personal roots. While I was in law school in Los Angeles, I dealt with an illegal eviction attempt and sustained harassment from a slumlord in this county. I know what it feels like to have someone threaten your home, use the law as a weapon against you, and assume you will not fight back.
“I don’t stand for that. I fight.”
I bring that same conviction to the criminal defense side. The people swept up in the criminal justice system and the prison-industrial complex deserve every protection the Constitution promises them. Most do not receive it. The work of this office is to close that gap, one client at a time.
What we do
- Tenant-side eviction defense across Los Angeles County. We don’t represent landlords.
- Criminal defense across Los Angeles County.
What we believe
“The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom.”
John Locke, Second Treatise of Government (1689)
We believe in the rule of law and the Constitution. Eviction defense is the freedom to keep your home. Criminal defense is the freedom of the accused. Both fail when the law is used as a tool against the people it should be protecting. Our work is to keep that from happening, one case at a time.
The clock matters
The legal system runs fast, and it runs against people who don’t have help. Tenants get 10 court days to answer an eviction complaint. Criminal defendants face charges that can follow them for life. The work matters because the timing matters.
Reliable. Resilient. Relentless.
